Regional Natural Resource Management (NRM) Planning In Tasmania

In Tasmania, the regional NRM planning and investment approach operates under the Tasmanian Natural Resource Management Act (2002).

The Act established a framework that includes:

The Federal Government is involved through a number of national funding programs, most of which are undertaken in cooperation with the States. The largest is the Natural Heritage Trust, but others include the National Landcare Program and the National Action Plan for Salinity and Water Quality (see the Federal Government's NRM web site for more details). They support on-ground works, planning, resource assessment and capacity building.
