The Australian Govenrment Treasury has recently conducted a review of the taxation treatment of plantation forestry. Details about the review, which is now closed for consultation, can be accessed via the Treasury website.

A detailed description of the taxation of plantation forestry is provided in the Australian Plantation Industry submission to the 2005- 2006 Australian Governmnet Treasury Review of the Taxation Treatment of Plantation Forestry.

The Australian Government Forestry and Conservation Minister, Senator Eric Abetz, and Minister for Revenue and Assistant Treasurer, Peter Dutton, announced new arrangements for the taxation of investments in forestry managed investment schemes (MIS) in December 2006. The implementation detaisl for these new arrangements wil be developed throughout 2007.
